The multi-tiered Sponsorship program was started in 2006 in honor of the 100th Anniversary Celebration. This new dynamic has lead to an entirely different method of fundraising for the ARDA Officers and Executive Committee. Previous methods included, individual sponsors selecting to sponsor a specific event or a portion of an event during the Winter Workshops or the Annual Meetings. This philosophy was started in the early 1990's when non-railroad members offered to put on one of the evening events on their own to help out the organization.
