In this issue of The ARDA Newsletter, we look at BNSF’s new venture delivering Bakken crude oil via unit trains. The theme of the feature article, BNSF Railway serves the transportation needs of the Bakken shale market, tells how BNSF is using its capacity and strategic location of its network to transport crude by rail as U.S. oil exploration enters a new chapter. The article discusses BNSF’s role in the transportation of crude oil from this region and how the railroad is also involved in the inbound transportation of drilling materials, including pipe, mud sand and clay, to support the production of crude oil.
